Having been a teacher at St. Genevieve for eight years now, I am always amazed at the level of excitement that our students have for the Fiesta. The rides pull in on flatbed trucks, and while they don’t look like much, the students know them all by name – Zipper, Magnatron, Fun-O-Matic, Super-Spinner, Fun-O-Tron, etc… The rides unfold like giant metal mechanical flowers, brightly lit, colored and ready to swing, ready pull and spin our students, their friends and their families for three days of fun.
The booths are built by men in a matter of hours, and before our eyes, our usual playground is converted to something resembling a county fair. Foods, I’m sure, quickly fill the booths, as prizes are readied and the hundreds of volunteers prepare for the thousands of people that will visit the Fiesta.
When I return to school on Tuesday, the students are jazzed up with stories of friends, food, fun, rides, prizes and late nights. And good for them! I’m happy that they are able to enjoy themselves, leave the routines of school for a few days and just be kids.
And although I’ve never been to the Fiesta myself, it is through the happy smiles of the students and their breathless stories that I live through them and experience the Fiesta through six-hundred points of view, instead of just my own.
What about you?
I loved the fiesta!!! The best ride was the zipper. There was a lot of rides, games, and entertainment. I hope they’ll be a fiesta next year!! =)
Construction at the fiesta was rough this year! The construction crew had to improvised just to build the beer booth. With no budget this year, we had to use scrap just to get it done. The clean up was even tougher. I will be surprised is the same parents show up for construction volunteer for next year’s fiesta. I just hope the St. Genevieve kids and their parents enjoyed the festivities at the fiesta and that the organizer’s appreciate the construction work that was done for the past 8 straight days.
TO ALL THE CONSTRUCTION CREW, GREAT JOB, WELL DONE AND HOPE TO SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!
It was tough but it was great working with you!
Well, I met up with an old friend who used to go to this school and we had so much fun. Even though we didn’t ride together, it was a nice time. My other friend and I rode the Sizzler. Haha! I was the small one, so I squished her. teehee. Well, can’t wait until next year. ..
U
Win some groceries, shoot some hoops,
Watch the Gravitron’s crazy loops!
Silent auction, not so silent,
Lots of rides, mostly violent.
Spinning kids try not to look sick,
Too much food, and pulsing music.
Dunk Father, Sister and our teachers,
Hearing WINNER! over speakers.
Games and dancing, haunted house,
Riding the Ferris wheel with my spouse.
A chance to see some long lost friends,
Use all your tickets before it ends!
Still have Fiesta Bucks now that it’s over?
Save ‘em up for next October!
the fiesta was awesome!!!!! i had so much fun with my friends and the rides were so fast and exciting!!! my favorite ride was zendar because you spin really fast and yougo up and down and its really fun! so anyways, the fiesta was awesome and now you know why.
It was a wonderful event. I think I enjoyed myself more than my daughter. I promised to bring her back the next day but I was too tired from the day before. She went with her father on Sunday and they had a blast. She enjoyed the rides, food and seeing her friends.
A big thumbs up to everyone involved!!! All I can say is Encore! Encore! Encore!….
See you next year!
My son had a great time with his friends. He was so excited to ride the Zipper. I had a wonderful time playing games and meeting up with friends. The spirit was AWESOME!!!!
Just to say “thank you” to all the people that put a lot of effort in making the Fiesta a sucess.
Great rhyme, Mrs. Ballas!
Most memorable thing that happened during the Fiesta this weekend was when my daughter’s boyfriend, Mark Rullamas went up on stage, went down on bended knee, proposed to my daughter, Anjoline to marry her. Yes, my daughter got engaged here at the grounds of St. Gen during the fiesta. It all started 21 years ago when they were in grade 3 when they were paired to go to the monkey cage at the fiesta. Looking back, they would think of this one memorable moment as their destiny.
Wedding date….it’ll be year 2012 when Anjoline finishes her school in Chiropractic medicine.
God bless them always!
Adelina A. Lopez
I saw that proposal! It gave me goosebumps. I’m sooooo glad she said yes! I also liked how she looked to everyone watching for advice – one big family!
That was a Fiesta first for me!
Thank you for sharing the back story with us! Destined since 3rd Grade! I agree with you Mrs. Lopez, God bless them always!
Thank you to those of you who have already submitted a comment about the Fiesta.
In order to celebrate the National Day of Writing, we will hold a raffle next week for a special, top-secret prize.
All entries (comments) from now until next Tuesday are eligible. Thank you!

The Fiesta
Only three days a year
The fiesta comes to have fun
I brought my 14 year old uncle John
And he has a really nice girlfriend named Megan
I met a girl at the fiesta named Jennifer
She has my number and she’s Japanese, Filipino, Caucasian, and Irish
She’s the nicest girl I know
We rode the Zethar and Zipper together
But I rode the Zipper 13 times with my uncle John
I got sick because I ate a lot between rides
Stuck to a wall
Spinning to nowhere
If it broke We would
DiE…
Spinning so fast
There’s artificial Gravity
IN this Hell
Am I scared?
Not Ever, I’m a spinner
Spin, Spin around the gravitron.
When I get off
It could Be,
I’m on another planet…
My ride insructor
Eaten by a monster
The crazy things you can come up with
When you’re Bored
Or your brain runs wild
…But no
I’m on this planet
This place that I call home
Earth and St. Genevieve
A place that’s real and true.
“Who am I?”
I stand here day and night
I see new people every few minutes
I go in circle while going in a circle
I run fast like there’s no tomorrow
I have many colors
Which will you choose?
I have a name
It goes well with who I am
I make people feel wind on their faces
I come almost every year
I am not who you think am
I don’t always make you scream and shout
I am not a person
I am not like those other ride
Who do you expect me to be?
Who am I?
“In That Moment”
In that moment
I felt so alive
Everything around me just seemed to unwind
As if a big load got lifted off from behind
In that moment
All my thoughts disappeared
The image of it happening again all reappeared
In that moment
I couldn’t believe it
It happened so fast I couldn’t even see it
In that moment
It’s very undeniable that
It was simply undescribable
Life of A Ferris Wheel
Couples ride me.
They sit happily.
As I take them around,
they can see the town.
I see them make moves.
No one can see; nothing to lose.
It gives me joy to help the couples.
That’s why there are no singles; only doubles.
I am perfect for everyone,
because when people ride me, they might get some.
Friends can laugh, joke, and smile.
Too bad they can only ride me for a while.
At the end of the day I feel proud.
I helped many people and many crowds.
I’m sad that I have to leave.
I hope everyone will miss me.
“Three Days of Fun”
There were three absolute days of fun at the St. Genevieve Fiesta 2009! It was held October 16, 17, and 18. Dancing, singing, dunking, food, games, and rides, could have all been found at the Fiesta this last weekend. There were amazing performances by local bands and even the school choir performed. There was also a special performance by AJ Rafael Sunday night. Many people had the opportunity of dunking our parish pastor, Father Alden. It was a day of joy for many families that attended! Rides like the Zipper, Sizzler, and Gravitron were three of the many rides at this event. “Gravitron felt as if you were flying!” said by Patricia Sabillo. If you didn’t have the opportunity to come this past weekend, you can always come next year! As said by a student, Erazmy Mendez, “It was excitingly fun!”
“What is the Fiesta?”
The fiesta is three days of fun,
while we play and ride under the sun.
We play many games
and hear people’s names.
As I hear “aaaaaaaahh!” of people inside
with the colerful lights of red and yellow on the Zipper ride
Many scream and yell,
glad to not be hearing the school bell.
As we come with family and friends,
we hope the fiesta never ends.
As we go through the haunted maze,
all are having fun on these three days.
And as we listen and watch a friend,
the fiests now comes to an end.
Fiesta Fun
The fiesta was like a pot full of fun, and I wish it could have lasted longer. I went all three days. On the first day, I saw all the rides and I was filled with excitement. On the second day, I came and spent time with different people. I rode a lot of rides. For example, there was Zipper, the Ferris wheel, Zendar, and the Berry-Go-Round. That was very fun, but it made me slightly dizzy. Finally, it was the last day of the fiesta, but it was also the most fun. I walked and talked with people, and later, AJ Rafael, a singer, came. His appearance and performance was interesting because it was like a replay of his performance last year. He performed on October 18th, which was exactly a year from his last performance, and he was using the same guitar too. It was very exciting. During the three days that I’ve been at the fiesta, I met new people, ran around the whole school, ate delicious Italian ice, and rode all the fun rides. I’m going to miss this fiesta more than any other.
The fiesta, a place where friends “hang out.” A little bit of Disneyland is here. For example addicting rides, fun, many friends, games, and music. Everything is here. This year was probably the best out of all the years. My favorite ride is the Zendar, and I actually lost my glasses on it.
I had many friends to go with and I’ve seen them laugh and cry for the drama and for being happy. It was like a reunion. I got to meet some of my old friends I haven’t seen in many years. It was fun while it lasted and I hope to see it again.
Fiesta Memories
Varieties of rides, games, and food
Makes you have a great mood
Gravitron is super fun,
It makes me not want to run.
Zipper makes me scream,
It is so extreme.
The Berry Go Round is slow,
Like a river that flows.
Performances so great and loud,
It makes all of us so proud.
Dunk tanks raised money,
And it makes the staff look funny.
I love the fiesta every year,
It is the best and it is so dear.
I wish the fiesta would last,
Longer than it is, in the past.
Fiesta ‘09
The fiesta 2009 was really fun,
Filled with cuties, with prizes, and even hot dog buns.
Rode the zipper for the 1st time, in my whole life;
Oh boy, it was like being thrown, what a flight!
Got many hugs, many smiles, and especially many dunks from the dunk tank,
Which was really fun, I would like to say thanks.
I got to meet new people, new friends, which was really nice.
Some liked chocolate, while the others hated mice.
I even got to meet AJ Rafael,
Got to get two pictures with him,
When on the crazy one,
We lost balance and fell!
I really loved fiesta this year,
Fiesta was fun,
Too bad it was super fast, right?
Next time we have one, I’d love for it to last.
From 6:00pm-10:00pm on Friday it was the first day of the fiesta. Choir had to attend a practice at 1:00pm. I came early to the fiesta with Jesey, Neecole, Kaelyn, Luigi, and Kevin. We hung out for a while before choir practice. The parade was quite amusing because it was band, choir, high school choir, and the boys dance team. On Saturday, Cherubim Choir had their dunk tank ready to go. When it was my turn, no one wanted to dunk me ‘till I asked this random guy to dunk me and he attempted to dunk me. Later on in the day me and my friends were looking for cute guys to take a picture because of this bet. So, I saw the guy that attempted to dunk me , I asked to take a picture with him. We greeted each other with a wave and his name was Kris. The cute guys were like looking at a buffet of dessert. Sadly, I was denied by Theo from the boys dance team because he was with his girl.
Around 5pm Neecole and I went to the haunted house to volunteer, scaring people were hilarious. When it was closing my friend, Stephanie, told me to say bye just to be nice since I took a picture with him. Friday, Aj Rafael and Jenny Suk came to our fiesta around 6pm. I was able to take a picture with him and Jenny. Me and my friends recorded our friend getting pantsed from behind and now its on Youtube. Then we played the clothes pins game and pinned so many random people, it was spectacular. After the performance I went to get an autograph from him, My two friends started coughing and saying, “ Armida the hater.” Aj had that certain face when he remember the whole twitter misconception. Gladly, he was like, its okay, and I got a hug out of it.

Poem
I was at the Fiesta
There was hot food and addicting rides
The Gravitron was the best
There were lots of things to do
And a dunk tank
There was the strawberry ride (which was very bad)
And the zipper
I was laughing with my friends
I got tickets
There was patty melts
It was fun
My blood was pumping
There were zebra prizes
Exciting stuff
To bad there was no confetti
IT WAS SO FUN!

Fiesta Poem
The fiesta was very cool and fun,
Just make sure you stay away from the gravitron,
Because it makes you very dizzy,
I have better things to do I’m very busy,
The Berry-Go-Round is the worst ride ever,
I’m going to throw up, that wasn’t clever,
Then AJ performed talking about “thingamabobs”,
The girls scream, they jump, they hop,
Then the fiesta was finally over,
Now we have to wait till next October.
“The Spinning Sensation”
Carnies open,
and lock me up.
I spin while you spin, and I don’t look like what I’m called.
I watch as kids sit in my chambers.
Screaming at the top of their lungs.
Some humans step back in my presence,
while others come forward with no delay.
It’s fun to give children thrills,
and watch them rock in excitement.
I used to be named “Monkey Cages”,
but I entered the 20th century,
and was renamed as “Zipper”.
The Clock is ticking pretty fast
As its three hands move
The more feet I see
Finally It has begun
Now let us party like crazy
We start walking
Scanning through the fair
Checking out the rides
Getting hungry from time to time
And eating from time to time
The day finally ends
Time to turn off the lights
But no worries!
Two more days left to party!
Fiesta ‘09
I walk around booths, I squeeze through crowds,
I think of what to ride and what to eat,
Who to hang out with and who to talk to,
Trying to win, trying not to barf when I get off a ride,
2009 Fiesta.
Seeing old friends,
Saying what’s up, how you doing,
Laughing with friends, rolling on the floor,
We all had a good time, hopefully not the last,
2009 Fiesta.
2009 Fiesta
So many activities
But very little time
It was very fun
Didn’t waste a dime
Zendar was the best ride
It would make me really dizzy
Drank so many drinks that are fizzy
We ate so much food
It was all good
Gravitron is very hot
It was like were in a boiling pot
If I had to throw up, hide!
Sitting down in the dark alley
With my best pals
The fiesta had a lot of people
A lot of dizzying rides
Not that much fun as last year
Less rides than last year
Better than staying at home
Doing nothing fun
Don’t know if I’m going next year
Everyone got dizzy
Overall it was fun
There was a lot of food
And rides that make some people throw up
Like the sizzler and the gravitron
Fiesta 2009
The 2009 fiesta was so fun.
It’s too bad that it’s already done.
There were lots of rides, games, and different kids,
And also an auction where people made bids.
The rides were so very cool,
They all made me drool.
I liked the ones that went up and down,
They were so awesome that I didn’t frown.
I liked the food they had,
It did not taste that bad.
It sucks because the fiesta is done,
And this one was our last one.
The fiesta was like going to Disneyland too,
Except it was with people I knew.
The fiesta was very fun with all my
friends most were there but
little didn’t come most were
with there family most were with there
friends everyone had fun people
didn’t get in trouble police on
the watch so everyone was
scared the rides were fun but
some were not that fun one ride
was new but the rest were the same
everyone happy and having a good time
“A Day of Fun”
I only got to go to the fiesta for the last day only, but that day was fun. Even if I didn’t reach my goal of riding every single ride, I still got dizzy off of them. Right when I got to the fiesta, Jared started following me and started to talk about Tekken and singing his favorite song “That’s Not My Name”. When he ended up getting himself lost, I ended up finding my friends and hanging out with them. We rode some rides and made fun of the Delorean. There, I also saw the most ghetto carney in the world, and a very angry lady with a Wii. There was some headaches in the process of the fun but it was worth it. In other words, The Fiesta=Bodacious.
“Amazing Fiesta”
This fiesta was very fun. The food was great. The pupusas, the horchata, the pizza, and the tacos were the best. The rides were better than last year’s rides. The best ride was Zendar and this year the Zipper was back. It was very fun to hangout with all of my friends and riding rides with them. The fiesta was like a family reunion everybody knew each other and made new friends. Most of the money we got from the gambling. We lost a lot of money there and gained a lot too. There were a lot of game booths but the best one was the dunk tank. It was fun to see people miss the easy target and for people to get dunked in the cold water. The choir hosted the dunk tank. Now that the fiesta is over I really going miss it because I’m graduating this year and I probably won’t be here next year.
The fiesta was great, even though the rides were too crazy for me. I still loved hanging out with my friends. We were just waking around and talking about old experiences and memories. We had a “work out day” if you would cal it, i wont go into detail, but lets just say that we ran a lot. It made my feet hurt that day. But overall the fiesta was awesome.
The fiesta was fun
I want another one
Berry go around
Is the boring one
I don’t like gravitron
But I like hanging out with Cameron
The rides are amazing
Even dunking people
I like to run around
Even to jump around
I attended the fiesta late
And went home at eight.
The day ends
And saying bye to my friends.
The fiesta was overall very fun. It was like a football game because there were so many people. I had a lot of fun spending time with all my friends. The rides were very exciting and thrilling. I was close to riding every ride in the fiesta. It was fun playing the games and eating all the different kinds of food. I thought that the food was very delicious this fiesta. One of the games that were very fun was the dunk tank. It was fun to dunk people and watch them fall into the water, I spent a lot of money during the fiesta on tickets, food, and games. If you missed the fiesta you missed the best food, rides, and games.
Fiesta, The “F” is for Party
The fiesta is kind of like going to a tiny Disneyland because it is so fun and filled with excitement and everyone is happy there. There are rides, food, and games and lots of our friends. This year could possibly be the best one because of one ride, the Zendar. At first I was really scared because it spun so fast and once I gave my tickets to the guy, got on the ride, buckled up, and the ride rose, I knew it was too late to get off so I just let the ride do its thing. I was so blown away by it! When I got off, I wanted to get on again. I just hope it comes back next year.
“The Fiesta”
The fiesta was a whole mess of fun,
There are lots of games to enjoy,
I wish it wouldn’t have to be done,
Besides I even won a favorite toy.
It felt like a traffic freeway, a very busy place,
With lots of yelling too,
All I can say is I’m full of grace,
And that is all I have to do.
I feel bad it wasn’t there that long,
I am really going to miss it,
I really wish it came back, I’m really not wrong,
But once I graduate, I’ll still miss it a bit.
In the fiesta it was amazing. There were many rides at the fiesta. Yet I went on so very little rides. I only went on two rides: the kite flyer and the silver streak. I would’ve got on more rides but brothers and little sister took all my tickets. So I played the ring toss and got a full basket. But I missed every toss. I was sure that I would have gotten at least bottle and gotten a prize. Although I didn’t have the best time it was still fun to go. I was able to hang out with some of my friends to so I had something to do while I waited for my brothers and sister used up all my tickets. After the fiesta it looked like a tornado had hit cause it was very messy with ticket, paper, and food all over the floor.
Fiesta of 2K9
Dear L.A., Lance, and Luigi,
You guys missed an amazing fiesta. We had more games, new rides, and a haunted house with some high school. I know how much you guys hate a haunted house that doesn’t have machines in it. I haven’t gone on the Zipper though. I won a huge prize at the ring toss game. I won a huge bear for my sister. It looked taller than me when it was sitting. Adults ask me where I got it. What I like the most was the dunk tank. The choir members were soaked. My classmates was still wet Let me give you some advice. Never scream on the Gravitron! You will be dizzier than you need to be. I’ll see you next spring. Have a great time in Canada!
Your Cousin,
Christian
Fiesta Time!
This year’s fiesta was fun,
From school to playing with a bb gun.
Many rides, parents worry,
To kids who want to play in a hurry.
A lot of food ready to serve,
Feeding a lot of hungry customers.
Many prizes too much to pick from,
To choking on your gum from the gravatron.
Too dizzy and tired,
Many booths up for hire.
Service Hours already working on,
We have a lot of time trying to spend it on.
The fiesta I will never forget
Dear Carla,
Guess what I did over the weekend? Well, I went to the fiesta it was so awesome I went on the ride called zipper it was cool. I went with Vanessa in that ride. Then we started walking and I found my other friends: Julio, Vahe, Michael, Andres, and Alex. We had so much fun I wished that you came. Then by that time we went to the dunking booth to see who were the people that got dunked.
We were starting to get hungry so we ate pizzas and some of us ate burritos. I actually had fun and also a good day. Then we went to walk around because we were all out of tickets .It was very fun and entertaining because I saw Regina’s Vince and kayleen’s performance and we went on rides all day. I hope you feel better in the hospital.
Always,
Leslie Chow
Weekend Without the Fiesta
Last weekend was like riding a shaky roller coaster, but it did end in my favor. I really only heard rumors about the fiesta this year such as: how the Ferris wheel malfunction and how awesome the new ride is. I was able to go for an hour, but only for church. I was still able to see most of the attractions such as: the dunk tank, all the rides, and the stage. One of my friends wasted 60 dollars on the dunk tank but said it was worth it. Since most of the things in the fiesta were from last year, my mom replaced me going to the fiesta with videogame items like: systems, controllers, the ability to play online, and regular games. I don’t think that it was much worth it not going, and I still think it would have been fun, especially the zipper. Overall, it was a normal weekend for me.
My Experience at the Fiesta
Dear Cristina,
The fiesta was so much fun. I went on rides and played games. I wish you could have been there. The tickets were expensive but at the time I didn’t care so I spent like all my money. The best rides were Zipper and Zendar. Its cooler riding the rides in the night because you could see the lights. My favorite ride was Zipper because it goes really fast and you flip around a lot. I hit my head and got a bruise on my leg because of that ride, but I didn’t care because I liked it. I rode it like 3 times. On Friday I was super bored though because none of my friends really went that day, so I was just hanging out with Vahe and Julio. Then on Saturday Leslie came like at 3:30, so I was hanging out with her, Alex, Vahe, Julio, Andres and Micheal. We went on almost all the rides. Some people didn’t have enough tickets or didn’t have any at all. On Sunday I came late like at 6. I was hanging out with Natalie, Monica, Erazmy, and Clarissa. Overall it was really fun.
Love, Vanessa
A Certain Line of Work: Fiesta 09
Every year on the tenth month, before kids dress up in their outlandish costumes, I have a chance to shine. On the three days it takes for me to stand up, amongst my five other friends, the kids would point and shout and be happy with my presence. Most of my close acquaintances would complain about me being so popular, but it was simply the way I was built, I would say with an impish smile. When the men are finished with my construction, they put up a sign that spells my name out with bright light bulbs: “Zipper”. When they finally flip the switch and press the buttons, I spin and whirl so much to the point where I don’t know which way is up anymore! On the first day, lines would form from excited and impatient kids waiting for their turn. My only concern is that they hold on to personal items. Over the years, I would claim loose change and maybe a cell phone or two. Even the invaluable ticket booths were lost to my grasp, but at least I know it was gravity’s fault and not mine. It’s actually fun to see the gondolas turn into midair blenders of the various articles. Despite that, all the kids’ screams and hoots tell me that they are having the time of their lives. After all is done, I inwardly smile as I look at the youths hop off with crazed grins and others with hair looking like a tornado passed by. Simply enjoying these young people’s company is enough to keep me content on these three days as I realize that not all kids are spending time with excessive electronics. On the last day, the prismatic lights are turned off, I’m taken down, and swept away, but I know that there’s always next year waiting for me. One more year to wait for epileptic seizures and laughter!
Fiesta 2009 My experience in the fiesta was very fun and great. I saw many of my best friends riding some of the new rides in the fiesta. As I was walking people were holding a sign that Father Alden was going to be dunked at 8:00 p.m. so when I saw that more than half of the people in the fiesta were headed towards the dunk tank booth, they were preparing their cell-phones and their cameras so they can take a picture of it or record it. The fiesta was fun, everyone ate lots of food and rode many kinds of rides and played the betting games and all the other games there.
Fiesta
The fiesta was fun yet they ended up
with sore throats.
It was very colorful because of the ride colors yet
they were scared.
It was very crowed but they had a blast.
That may not have lasted for long, so much food to eat.
A lot of energy and happiness was brought into this fiesta.
A lot of money was given out.
Many smiles were seen and for sure they couldn’t fake
because nothing can replace there smiles
The fiesta is like a carnival. It was very exciting. I didn’t want to go
on the ride because someone hit or slapped me. I ran out of tickets. Then one of my sister friends or classmates gave me some tickets. Then i went home to go on the computer. i went on a game called Flyff. in Flyff i got to be level 26 the job i wanted to be. my brother was wining and was going to cry. my sister was sick, but when she went to the fiesta she was better. then she got sick when we went home.
The 2009 St. Genevieve Fiesta
In a ride called the Zipper,
You’ll feel like you’re in a twister.
While you’re rocking back and forth,
You’ll feel butterflies of some sort.
Some kids may yell, some kids may scream,
But the lights from this ride will always beam.
You can pick from the carts that are colored blue, purple, and gold,
But if you should know, this ride is old.
It isn’t as new as Zendar and Gravitron,
But many kids still pay 5 tickets and agree to go on.
But once you leave this ride, your friends, and the fiesta,
You’ll want to go home and take a siesta.
Fiesta! Fiesta! Fiesta!!!!

Fiesta 09’
I remembered on the first day of the fiesta I had a hard time finding my friends because there were a lot of people there. I rode the zipper a bunch of times with one of my friends and she would talk on the phone while the ride was going on. I remembered when I would run out of tickets, one of my friends would pay for me. “Hey Nikole want to ride the zipper with me?” asked Jb. “Sorry I have no more tickets,” I replied. Aha, I still owe him money. During the fiesta I also rode the sizzler, the ferris wheel, and zendar. I screamed so loud that I almost lost my voice, seriously.
On Saturday my cousin Grachelle came. She went to the fiesta with me and we had so much fun. I introduced her to all my friends and she rode almost all of the rides with me. While my cousin and I were walking around the campus, I remember when we would see some cute guys passing by. Aha! Anyways, when the fiesta was over at 10 p.m. Alyssa and Grachelle came to my house and slept over. While they were sleeping I was too busy texting one of my friends.
On the last day of the fiesta, which was Sunday, I went there with Alyssa. First we went to Bahay Kubo, which is a restaurant, with Marielle. After we ate we went to the fiesta and met up with our friends. Then we started playing in this booth to win Marielle a huge teddy bear that says “I Love You.” We tried everything, but we didn’t get it. The day went by so fast that the only thing I did was ride the rides with all of my friends. I remembered that it was very hot that day. I was sweating like cookies baking in an oven. Then when the fiesta was almost over I watched AJ Rafael’s performance and I heard a lot of screaming. Too bad I had to go home early. I miss the fiesta already, but I have to wait until next year’s fiesta. What a great weekend!
Point of View of the Ride at the Fiesta
I am a ride. I go up and down, vertical, horizontally, anyway you could think of. I can turn go backwards, go up in the air and sometimes scare you. That’s my job. I don’t get paid for doing what I love to do, but I do get many comments and visits. I get crowded like a bunch of kids racing to get to the ice cream truck first. Sometimes I smell from people spitting, or most of the time from people vomiting. The reason why they vomit is because they are sick, don’t read the warning signs, or are scared of how I work. I am lonely sometimes, and get too much company most of the time.. When I get rusty, I get a new paint job and may get new pieces to my figure. I don’t cost a lot just a few tickets, but I you will remember me. I love it when I see kids happy and all the people surrounding me. I have been here for a long time. Even more than a decade. As time passes by people pass and go and then it is my turn to start up when a customer is near.
The Fiesta
Even though I only went to fiesta on Friday I still had a good time. I saw most of my friends and we went on most of the rides. Then we walked around and played some games and talked. My favorite ride was the Zendar. It was an improvement of the Gravitron. When it starts, it lifts you up, then spins and go sideways. If you try to lift up any body part the force of the ride will force it go back down. Then we went on the Sizzler. That ride hurts a lot if there is someone riding with you and if you are on the right of them they crush you hard. It feels like something heavy, like a TV, is pushing against me. When I got off I was a bit sore. Next we went to eat and get some drinks. Then we went into the haunted house attraction. When we were in it wasn’t that scary until we entered the room. At every turn we made in the room there were monsters. When we got out we were laughing for some reason. After a while I went home. When I got home I sat down in the sofa and went to sleep.
St. Genevieve Fiesta
The fiesta was so exciting. I went to all three days. On Friday, I only rode 2 rides. The rides were Sizzler and Zipper. These rides made me feel like I had to vomit because they were all spinning. I also performed with the Cherubim Choir. We also had the Valiant Voices and the Boys Dance Team to sing with us. The next day, which was Saturday, I rode Zipper again. After I just stayed at the Cherubim Booth and ate a burger. I had to leave early because I had to go to a prayer for my cousin, Patrick. The last day of the fiesta came. It was Sunday Oct. 18, and I got dunked at the dunk tank. The water was as cold as Alaska. At first I was scared, but once you get dunked you’ll get so used to it. Later at about 6:30 p.m. my friends and I sat in front of the stage so we can be in the first row when Aj Rafael performs. At 7:00 p.m., Aj came out on stage and everybody screamed like crazy! He performed about four songs. Later, he was signing autographs in KA. He signed my purple vans and after I just went home with my family. The fiesta was so amazing!
How the Rides Felt At the Fiesta
I’m plugged in I’m set up. I’m ready to spin and spin real fast.
I’m ready to make people scream, laugh, and have a good time. Oh boy! Here they come! They’re getting their tickets and climbing in. They are all strapped in and ready to go. Ready, set, go! Look at them scream and yell. They seem to be having a great time. I think that someone said, “That was the best ride ever!” There’s so many people. It’s getting very crowded and really hot. It was as crowded as exiting a baseball stadium. There’s lots of food, games, prizes, and other rides. Look more people. Here I go again! These people are very loud. Haha, I think that kid just threw up. So many kids, there running everywhere. I’m getting tired. Oh no more people. Wow! There’s a line just to get on me. Here I go again. Look at the food they are eating it looks good. Aww this is my last ride. I’m gonna go even faster this time. People are leaving. Look at the traffic. So much trash. This place is a mess. Well, see you next year!

Weekend plans
Have you ever made a mistake? A mistake so big you didn’t want to go back there again. I made that mistake at last year’s fiesta. So, this weekend I stayed home instead of going to fiesta. Friday, I was at home alone with y brother all day. Our parents were at work so we did the usual home alone routine; watch TV, play video games, and eat. As soon as mom and dad got back we already had over 50 arguments we didn’t mention. That night we went to our basketball games. We both won and decided to eat outside. Our dad took us to a gourmet restaurant, Jersey mikes. The sub shop looked like it was closing, but an employee opened the door for us. We the entered the store and ordered 2 Italian subs. The employee explained, “I’m sorry, but we only have one loaf of bread left.” We then ordered one giant instead to share. Ohhhhh, the sub still tasted as good as it had before. It was so good, all the other ones cowered in its presence. Sunday, We got dragged to go to a children’s expo. I only went for the free stuff. The expo turned out to be a rip-off since there wasn’t anything good. There were only fliers and little kid stuff. We headed home and watched TV for a while. After that we headed towards the mall. I went to Gamestop and bought a new game. We then waited a half hour in order to finally leave while mom was shopping. Monday, this Monday I was all alone. My mom and dad were at work, and my brother was at school. I stayed home watching television, eating, and playing video games. In the end my weekend wasn’t that memorable. It was still enjoyable. Just not memorable. I enjoyed myself just eating and playing video games, but it would have been more fun if something happened. Well, that’s all that happened on my weekend.
Fiesta Time
Sunset comes, fiesta time is here.
Neecole gives me the first hug.
I see Cherubim Choir and Celis.
I ride Zipper with Anthony,
The gold cage is known to flip the most.
It’s crazy and gives me a big headache,
But I would love to go on again.
Show Choir performs as I eat my patty melt,
They sang put a little love in your heart.
While doing pointing gestures,
Hynna thinks they’re pointing to her.
I see my old friends from other schools.
Sheila loves Italian ice more than me,
And Russel is as conceited as me.
Here comes a new friend in my life,
And her name is CJ.
I’ve witnessed my first proposal,
And it was my best friend’s sister.
I heard lots of “aww” in the crowd.
The fact that the guy announced it on stage,
Made it very cute and touching.
Hearing AJ Rafael sing live was a great moment,
I was right in front of the stage.
His Disney Medley was my favorite,
And we sang along like a whole choir.
I wish I could’ve taken a picture,
But he didn’t let us.
As Zipper was my last ride,
It was with Celis.
Fiesta was awesome,
I can’t wait for next year.

The Fiesta….
You guys would never ever guess how fun I had at the fiesta. I went to the parish fiesta on Friday at 6:00. I came with my cousins, and stayed with them for a while, until I noticed Harley and Paulina stalking me. I turned around and hugged Paulina, since I hadn’t seen her in a while. So it was sort of like a reunion for us. We walked up to the Sizzler while talking about friend problems. Paulina told us about our look-a-likes at her school. Isn’t that weird? I couldn’t wait to ride the Sizzler, but it was a long line. I waited for any other friend to come. Soon enough I saw Stephanie. She asked me if I wanted to go on that new purple ride. We climbed up and found ourselves the last two spots. People cheered “Finally!” as we belted ourselves. The ride began. Hearing people screaming and all was fun, until the fifth grader next to me called everyone sissies. I ignored him and got off.
I was just in time to see Harley and Paulina squish each other on Sizzler. Watching with me, Stephanie and Patricia [who just arrived] yelled at the two. They were squished as mashed potatoes! Now, I wanted to ride with Patricia. She had no tickets, so I let her use mine. Now it was our turn to ride. I was the short one, so I got to squish her. Getting on to the shiny, red seat was cool. Once the ride swayed from side to side, she kept screaming, “Aaaah! Like omg! Get me off this thing! Can you people see she’s squeezing me?! My face…Its RED! HELP!!!” I laughed and told her it’ll be over soon. Momentarily, we screamed “WEEEEE” the whole time. I got off the ride sweating like crazy.
We soon caught up with the other two and just walked around. The four of us passed by old classmates, some people that wore freaky make-up, and a couple that kept on kissing. Eww. Soon enough we rode Gravitron, Fly-High, and everything else. I really enjoyed it because, you know, friends having fun, like girls’ night out. It turned out to be my highlight of the month.

The Fiesta!!!
Ahhhhhhh… The Fiesta I it was so fun and joyful! I was Saturday and Sunday when I went. It was a great place to have
fun and spend your money. I had fun riding rides with my friends and eating the
yummy food with my dad. I liked the taste of Italian ice, pizza, and B.B.Q!
I also rode a lot of the rides like Zipper, Zender, Gravitron, and the Ferris Wheel.
I enjoy riding the zipper it was so funny when I rode it with Erik he was screaming
get me off this thing. I also rode with JB, Ha-ha-ha we wouldn’t stop spinning
(non-stop). I felt weightless! I also enjoyed watching that band play those
Beatles songs! I lastly
watched those high schoolers and adults play basketball. It was awesome!!! The
score was37 to 62 and the green team was leading. Then the yellow team was close but
lost the final score 61-71 the green team won. It was a hilarious and exciting. I liked to
watch the cherubim choir being dunked in the dunk tank!! Ha-ha-ha!!! I finally ended the day watching people perform on stage while eating Italian ice with my dad! I enjoyed the day I hope it’ll be 3x better next year! =)

The Fiesta
The fiesta was fun but when I went on Saturday it was kind of boring. It was boring because when I was there around 12 no one was there and I had to leave at 4. I liked the rides Zipper, Sizzler, Strawberry ride, they were cool except Zendar. I didn’t like Zendar because it was just like Gravitron. After that I never wanted to ride it again. Zipper was he best ride I road. Then sizzler was second but I got squished. And the strawberry ride, I road it with Carlos, Camille, Kayla, Edrese, Maxine, and I think Melanie. When Kayla wanted me to stop spinning the green thing I didn’t stop. Then when she said if you love me you would stop spinning the green thing. Then I said “I don’t love you” and I kept spinning the green thing and the people I road with started laughing. The second time I road the strawberry ride it was as hot as the sun. That’s all I did for the fiesta. Oh, and I saw a lot of cute girls.
ST. Genevieve 2009 Fiesta
I started to see the rides in action and I heard the people screaming from the rides. I smelled the food being fresh made off the oven. I entered from the entrance and I saw all the rides and a lot of people that I know because they go to my school and are in the same class as me. I was hungry and so was my family so we decided to get something to eat. I got mad and annoyed because we had to wait in line just so we can exchange our money for food money. I didn’t like that idea at all. We went to the pizza booth and all got pizza. To make things even more worse they ran out of Pepperoni Pizza, so we had to get cheese pizza and I don’t like cheese pizza that much. When we were finished eating we waited a little bit so our food could settle and be able to go on the rides without getting sick. I went on my first ride for the night and it was really fun and cool. It went very fast. We had some goofy people on the ride riding with us so it was hard not to laugh. When we were done I wanted to play a game. We went to this booth were we have to throw darts in order to win a stuff animal. The guy ripped me off by making me use all my money for a prize that sucked. I got mad because I had no money left. I went on a couple more rides but every ride was packed and when I was about to go on the Ferris wheel it closed. I got disappointed because I expected this year’s fiesta to be fun and it wasn’t. My dad was hungry after going to the beer station and got some hot dogs from the hot dog lady. I hope next years fiesta is more fun for me.
Fiesta Moments
I really enjoyed the fiesta! I loved the smell of the churros, barbeque, and soft tacos!. I rode Sizzler, the Beery Go Round, and the Ferris Wheel. They were very fun, especially Zipper! I loved the flips and the butterfly feelings when the cage spins. For some reasons I get nervous before I ride it. I noticed all the rides go in circles! The Cherubim Dunk Tank was really fun! Especially because I got to see and dunk my friends and teachers.
I also met up with some of my old friends and became friends with new people! I saw Aj Rafael perform some of his songs, like She was Mine, My Soldier, and some Disney songs. It was cool because I was in the front along with my friends and everyone was singing along with him! After he performed my friends and I got his autograph and also got a picture with him. I was very nervous. The fiesta was really awesome!
Fiesta Day!
The fiesta was as fun as going on your favorite ride as long as you want! The fiesta comes once a year. It’s only three days and usually everyone doesn’t have enough money for the next day. I met many new people; their names are Grachelle, Benjamin, and lots of Victor’s soccer teammates. They made me laugh so much that I kept on saying what they said all the time like one of the kids named Benjamin said, “I can’t say no to you, I cant say yes to no!” Benjamin said it while we were on a ride called Zandar with Nikole and Aaron.Zandar Was the ride I rode the most because I barley noticed that all the rides at the fiesta are spinning rides. I kept telling Marielle and Nikole,“ this ride doesn’t make me as nauseous as the other rides.” On the last day my mom made me leave because she just felt like it. She likes making me mad and she just kept on telling me she’d bring me the next day. I didn’t say anything because I knew she wouldn’t anyway and she would get mad. This year’s fiesta was the best out of all of them; I hope it’s the same next
The Fiesta
I was so excited on Friday, I waited and waited at home until my dad said that it was time to leave. I was so excited that I had my tickets, my money, and I took a shower in the afternoon. We left the house around seven o’clock. I was so excited that when I was jumping on my bed I fell off of my bed. When I got to the fiesta I was so anxious to ride all of them right away. Although I waited because I wanted to look for my friends first so I can ride with them. I looked and looked but they were n where to be found. While I was looking for them I saw many food, rides, and games. Also I saw some members of the Cheribum Choir like Neecole E., Samantha M., Lourdes P., and Melanie A. near the dunk tank. I saw a 6th grader as wet as the seaweed in the ocean. After I watched some Cheribum Choir members get dunked, I went back up and looked for my friends again. I saw many people from our elementary school, high school, and people who doesn’t even go to St. Genevieve. Although it was great meeting new people and making new friends.
I finally found my friends and my cousin. There was Harley, Paulina, Erika (Reyes), Stephanie, and my cousin Patricia. They were waiting for Patricia and Erika to finish riding the Sizzler. Once they were off we went on all the rides until I left.
On Saturday and Sunday, I did the same thing. I looked for my friends and then we started to ride. Sometimes when we feel tired of riding anything we eat some food or drink soda. Although on Sat. and Sun. I also saw Christine. All of us rode the Zipper, the Sizzler, the Ferris Wheel, and the Silver Streak. The Zipper was like a ride that almost made my heart stop. Sometimes we would walk around and watch some performances. It was a blast. I can’t wait until next year’s fiesta. I hope it’ll be even better. I would lke to thank the parish for a wonderful fiesta. This is the best school ever!
The St. Genevieve Fiesta of 2009!!!
Have you ever been to a Fiesta? No? Well you should have went to the Fiesta of 2009 hosted by St. Genevieve. It was the best fiesta ever. Food, games, and rides, this fiesta had everything. It was as hot as the sun but the great rides like Zipper, Zendar and its older brother the Gravitron, and finally the Sizzler over threw that. The food was great and so were the service. I even heard some one say “this Fiesta is the BOMB!!”A gambling booth, bingo, a dunk booth, and a haunted house! How much more can you add?! Family Fun for every one! They even had a Farris wheel, a merry-go-round, and silver streak for the little boys and girls. This fiesta had live performers too. Singing and dancing had even joined the party. And if you were the luckiest person here you would have one in the random winner raffle. Watching performances, people being dunked, games, rides, food, drinks, and Italian ice! This was the best fiesta yet!
On October 20, 2009, I went to my school’s fiesta. I was excited and amazed to see many rides and people. The fiesta was loud as a horn and right as the sun. When I walked inside the school’s playground, I could smell the tasty food from where I was standing. Many people were yelling and screaming for more tries. There were games to play and actions to sell items also, many shows were watched by audience and songs sung by students. He rides were outrages and joyful. When we were done riding the coasters, my mother took my cousin, my sister, and me to get something to eat. I got a burrito, it was tasty a made fresh. After finishing, we walked around the schoolyard and talked. When we got uninterested to the item and the rids, we went home.
Fiesta Poem
The Fiesta comes with joy and laughter
With rides and sights to see
Friends, family, and more gathered here in one place
Entertainments, craziness, and amazements on people’s faces
Rides that have yells come out to share the fun of enjoyment
With different moments and emotions to see
Rides that have names that are crazy as the Sizzler, Zendar, and Silver Streak
And with the greatest, fastest, tallest ride of all to see
The Zipper was the fastest ride as a rocket to see
It was awesome until then it was the final day before the fiesta leaves
It comes to go to here and there
It will come back, till then next year.
The School Fair
I remember screaming and thinking I was going to die. My friends said that I was screaming like a little girl. It all happened at the St.Genevieve fiesta. Friday, the first day when I got there I could hear the shrieks of people on the rides, smelled the wonderful food, and see all the flashing lights. You could tell people were having fun. When I got there I immediately saw my friends and we talked. Then I ate a delicious quesidilla and finally rode some rides. I had my eye on a new ride called the Zendar.
I expected it to be better, but it was still fun. I ended the day with a bacon wrapped hot dog with the grease dripping from the bun. Needless to say it was delicious. On Saturday when I got there it was as hot as the inside of volcano. There was a dunk tank and I laughed at people getting dunked. Then I started to gamble and I remember screaming out, “Big money.” I kept on winning, but then I kept on losing until I lost it all. I still had ride tickets though.
Then when I got there on Sunday I was a little sad because it was the last day. I talked to my friends and they finally convinced me to go on Zipper, a ride that really scares me. It was as high as Mount Everest, but I was determined to go on. I started to scream so much that I felt like I was going to lose my voice. It was finally over I went on some rides. It was time finally for the raffle! They announced the winners and sadly I lost. The fiesta was fun and one of the most memorable times of my life.
10-21-09
When I was at the fiesta, I was amazed and filled with joy. The fiesta was also as busy as a subway in New York. People were yelling, wandering, noisy, eating, and crazy. Some lines moved fast like the berry go round and some moved slowly like the bathroom. Everyone was in complete disorder. My first ride in the fiesta was the Graviton and it made me very dizzy.
After that I bumped in to friends like James, Angelo, and Andrei. James got us the haunted classroom to see if it was scary. There was a boy wearing a bunny suit leading us in. The haunted classroom wasn’t scary though. After that was closing time and I had to go home.
First day in a Fiesta!
The fiesta was awesome, I love the cultural smell
The fiesta was busy, phones were ringing
The fiesta was fast, fun, and frazzled
The rides were all thrilling like the Zipper and the Zendar
Some are quitting and some are leaving
We were wild like drunks, but the drinks were coffee
Foods, prizes, kids, and spills
Oh my gosh! Vomits and shouts
Some are drunk, some are dizzy
But it was all awesome and crazy
The rides were round, the rides were sphere
They were all very clear
The Zipper was great, extreme, and wonderful
Some are in the mass, some are in the food area
It doesn’t really matter
All is incredible
Riding
WHOOSH! My head was out of control. My body was dying to leave me. “AHH!,” was all I could say on the ride, Zipper. After that ride I felt dominated. I walked around anxious to find a ride that looked a little less horrifying. “Cherry Go Round!” I thought in my head. I felt if I rode that ride I would humiliate my self. I felt as if there were 1 billion butterflies in my stomach when I looked at the ride, Gravitron. I didn’t hesitate to ride it. As I stepped in the inside, I felt as if nothing could go wrong. When the ride started I said “Wow is this it?”. Then the ride started going faster. I lay on the wall. Seconds later, I was stuck on the wall. I didn’t realize how fast the ride was spinning!. People climbed like Spiderman!. There was a cranky old man knocking the kids off. It was for “safety”. After the ride was over, I forgot I was out of tickets. I was sad but appreciated the wonderful time I had.
When I was at the fiesta I was amazed that there were a lot of people. Everyone was so happy and excited to go the Zipper, and Zendar. I like Zendar better than the Gravitron. And I loved the haunted house it was scary. after that I was playing at the gambling both. I wasted all my money on that game so I’m done here see you next year!
Being on the rides is a great experience; while in line, I feel nervous yet excited. There are butterflies in my stomach and my body is trembling. When I am in the ride seat I am relaxed and feel safe. The ride starts; I feel the wind blow through my hair, my body crush into the back of the seat, and the speed of the ride pulling me. When it slows down I think in my head “Aw, its over”. When I get off, I know it was worth it.
Even though I love to go on rides, I hardly ever go to amusement parks. My parents never have time to take me, even on vacation. I almost went with my cousins, but for some reason they cancelled it. Also, when I do go no one wants to go on with me. They are either scared or don’t want to go on any rides. For example, at Knott’s Berry Farm, no one ever wants to go on any rides because they are too scared or freaked out by the ride. The only time we went on good rides was when there was a fun chaperone. So when I do go on rides I savor the moment because I rarely go.
At the fiesta I only went on two rides because my cousin didn’t want to go on anything. The only ride she went on was The Sizzler, but after that she got dizzy. I had some tickets left so I went on The Zipper with a friend. I would have gone on more rides, but my friends either left or ran out of tickets. This just shows I need to meet more people that like going on rides(and have tickets!).
St. Genevieve’s 2009 Fiesta was so fun! I had an amazing time with my friends. I didn’t ride much rides. Not because I was scared but because no one would ride with me. I know, it’s sad. On Friday, I performed with the Cherubim Choir as along with the Valiant Voices and the Boys Dance Team. It was so cool! Later that night, I rode the Berry Go Round with a bunch of people. I rode it with Camille, Melanie, Edrese, Maxine, Carlos, and Collet. I got so dizzy because mostly everybody began spinning it, even when the ride hadn’t even started! On Saturday, the Cherubim Choir finally got our Dunk Tank! Mikee was the first to try it out. We raised a lot of money having this booth. I constantly kept eating cherry, and blueberry Italian Ice. I also kept eating a Filipino drink called Sago. It was so sweet and yummy! I also ate pizza and a churro. Sunday-the most exciting day in the whole fiesta- was so busy, in a way. I helped advertise for our Dunk Tank. It was fun! A lot of people actually read the signs! It was weird, because usually people would just ignore them. I also got dunked on this day, too! I got dunked about six times! I even got dunked by my 6th grade teacher, Mrs. Laan! Before I rode a new ride, I felt excited, yet nervous and scared. I rode the Ferris wheel and started rocking it, it was crazy! There were many performances too. At around 7:00 P.M., AJ Rafael, a YouTube singing star, performed! I was so close to the front! I was so happy. When the day ended, I wished that this night would happen again! Fiesta of ’09 was awesome!
“Our Last Fiesta”
Waiting for choir to start
The heat outside was like being in
Helping Mrs. Ballas with the silent auction
Excitedly waiting for people to come
Hoping people would come soon
Listening to the drum line
Walking in the parade
Seeing many new faces, meeting new people
Performing on stage
Making the moments last
Getting scared and not letting go
Time went fast and the clock hit 10
Waiting for the next day to come
Waking up early for choir
Learning a new dance
Getting followed by people
Listening to the drama that went on
People yelling and crying
Met a new friend named Jake
From the Boy’s Dance Team
Laughing and screaming
Seeing people getting wet and dunked
Haunted house with new friends
Dropping my sandal in the haunting house
The people not letting me go back
Being barefoot for a while
Watching VRK practice
Getting cut on my foot
Getting rejected a picture, from a new friend
Wanting the drama to go away
Not that many people there
On the third day
My cut on my foot getting worst
Wanting to make the day go slower
Many people coming to see AJ Rafael
Friends hurting others
Many announcers saying “DUNK ME”
Being on stage while AJ performed
No one telling me anyhting
Many people yelling & having fun
The fiesta almost over
Everyone wanting to use their tickets
And trying to make the fiesta last
Fiesta Letter
Dear Hanna,
You should’ve been at the fiesta today. It was incredible because of how many people were there. The crowd was as loud as a lions roar. When I saw the Gravaton and Zipper, they were the same extreme; going up & down, side to side {which I feared}. Today, they had the dunk tank for the choir to enter so that they get dunked; it was crazy when they heard that Father Alden was going in the tank booth. There was a huge crowd waiting to dunk him. I was there for quite a while so I heard lots of yells on the rides. I went on so many rides that I started to get sick & even a little woozy. But it was killer, magnificent, active, noisy, unbelievable, exciting, & boring at the end. As I was leaving I was joyful, & happy because I got to eat a churro, quesadillas, & tacos. I got to see old & new friends. I didn’t get to see vomit because of the rides, there was no riot because of the food, I was tired by the time I got home, & the pizza’s that they were sailing were small. It was all laughter at the end for my friends and me this year! Well it’s good to talk to you again. That’s it, Bye! :][:
Your best friend,
Maribel De La Cruz
The 2009 Fiesta was a fun and exciting experience. I was proud to see all the hard work that my dad had done while on the construction crew , it was worth him being away from us for a whole week. I saw some friends that I haven’t seen for a while and I was glad to catch up. On Friday I tried once again to handle the Gravitron. Just like last year , I felt sick to my stomache . I went again on Sunday and hung out with my friends who pushed me onto the Ferris Wheel knowing that I have acrophobia. To top it all off when we were up in the air , one of my best buds kept teasing me saying that it was going to break. Unfortunatley I caught a bug and had the stomache flu for practically the whole following week.
The fiesta started on Friday and went on until Sunday at 8PM. I didn’t think I would go on Friday because my mom wasn’t home, but I went anyways. Before the fiesta, I got a few calls from friends so it made me more anxious. When I arrived, I rushed towards my friends. That night was more of a hangout and getting ready for the fiesta. I didn’t ride any rides, but just hung out with my friends and cousin. We mainly roamed around the whole school from the first grade to the eight grade. Our feet were aching from too much walking.
Saturday was a bit more fun because a lot of interesting things happened. My cousin from Riverside came, some drama went on that night, and I rode a few rides. I met some familiar face, but I was too scared or nervous to say hi. Armida and Jesey asked me to help them take pictures with guys so I had to ask “hot” guys to take pictures with them. It was as fun as asking a question for someone and using their name anyways. On that day I rode the Silver Streak and Zindar or however you spell it. The Zindar was a new ride this year. Apparently, Melissa doesn’t like it, but she likes the Zipper. I was totally the complete opposite. I couldn’t take the Zipper because of the feeling it gave me inside. It was also that day Vince, Regina, and Kaelyn performed on stage. They did okay, but we couldn’t really hear them sing because the guitar was too loud. That night brought some tears to some people and it brought answers to others. From watery eyes to broken hearts, it was a night to remember. The drama was what brought excitement that night. I tried on a sweater and pretended to be Superman. It was funny and weird at the same time. My cousin’s friend Kristen was joking around and pretended to ignore him so she only gave me high fives.
Sunday just made it a bit better. I talked with new people and rode more rides. I talked to my cousin’s friends from St. Jane Frances De Chantal, which I normally don’t do because I don’t know them well, and there’s nothing to talk about. I rode the strawberry ride with six other people and got a mini headache after, but it didn’t last long. If you try whispering on that ride, it doesn’t work. The people around you can definitely hear what you’re saying. I thought I would do something I would regret, I guess not. That day brought some relief to me and hopefully some understandings. The fiesta happily ended with a performance from AJ Rafael where a lot of people crowded and recorded the whole performance. The fiesta overall was fun, but I guess it could’ve been better. Probably not the fiesta itself, but what I did at the fiesta.
This fiesta was pretty fun. They had the same stuff as every year, there was really nothing new except for the new rides, Zendar & the Berry Go Round. All the rides spun so everyone was very dizzy. On Friday, the drum line came marching in while the cherubim choir followed. It was pretty cool. I went into the haunted house with my friends & we were freaking out. Emely even left her sandal there & was walking bare foot for a while. Saturday was pretty interesting. There was so much drama but in the end everybody was alright. Oh yeah on Saturday I met Jake because he was selling chocolate for the boys dance team. VRK (Vince, Regina, Kaelyn) performed. Even though they thought they sucked they were pretty good. I spent that day with Emely & Jaden riding rides while Kaelyn was getting ready for her performance. I spent 5 dollars on this one game where you hit the hammer on the thing so the ball hits the bell so Jaden can win a prize. Sunday was a go day. I spent the beginning of the day with Vince & Luigi shouting through the microphone telling everyone to go to the dunk tank for cherubim. Later that day I saw Emely & Kaelyn get dunked. It was pretty funny because Kaelyn would get up then get dunked right away. I also rode the Zipper with Justin. He was going crazy shouting like a girl. It was hilarious, I couldn’t stop laughing. I thought Edith was going to be at the fiesta but she went to Church & left because her mom wouldn’t let her stay. Later that night AJ Rafael performed but I didn’t stay for the whole performance because there was so many people I couldn’t even breathe! So I decided to ride the Sizzler with Ulises & Owen. The heaviest person should always be at the end where they get crushed because that would hurt if a light person is getting crushed by a heavy person. Over all I think it was a good fiesta. Even though most of it was boring, it was definitely the most memorable.
The Fiesta
The Fiesta was awsome and fun because i got to hang out with my friends and the best ride of them all was the Zipper. The zipper was fun only because I went with a friend and she was obsessed with the zipper. I went on it two times in a row and I flipped a couple of times. When I got out of the 1st time i started shaking a little bit ans overreacting. When I got stuck on the top I screamed as loud as I could. I played the game where you try to put the ring around the bottle. I wasted my money on that game. Some guy in the game asked me if I wanted to scare some people at the Haunted House. I saw one of the teachers going to the haunted house. I saw Sr. Teresa get dunked on the dunk tank. It was cool! I was kind of sad on the last day of the fiesta because #1 My mom made me go out of the haunted house, #2, My best friend left early, and #3, I never got to see AJ Rafael. I loved the Italian ice. All of my friends went on the berry-go-round. Inside the berry is like being on the sun. Hot and sweaty. It is like you’re being cooked. I would prefer medium rare. Haha just joking. We were laughing because this was a kid ride and we kept on spinning. The fiesta was kind of like a theme park. You have the rides. the games, and the food. I will definitely go to the fiesta next year and hopefully I will see AJ Rafael. I saw some of my friends that don’t even go to St. Genevieve anymore. Hope you enjoyed my story!
THE END!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This year, I went to the fiesta with more of my friends. Last year I only went with Gabriella, Charlene, Caitlin, and Arissa. But this year, I went with Victoria, Denisse, Caitlin (Again), Mizelle, Denisse’s cousin, Armonie, and Mizelle. I love all the rides… But it was too bad that I wasn’t able to ride the ferris wheel and berry-go-round. My favorite rides were the Zender, Fly Away, The Zipper, and Graviton. Eventually, after I rode the Graviton and Zender with my friends, I got sick and I threw up in the trashcan. (It was a good thing that nobody saw me!!) After riding so many carnival rides, I ate so much food. I ate nachos, chocolate ice cream, taffy, bbq, and coca cola. I was so full after eating so much food! After eating, I went to play the games. Well, eventually I lost but, it was a good thing that my daddy won $6. He gave me $4 and he kept $2 to himself to buy more food. I went to the haunted mansion with Victoria. It was SCARY! But, it was worth the money. It only costed me and Victoria $1. After playing and playing, I bought more food and sat down on the chair, and just listened to the music they were playing at the fiesta!
Friends at the Fiesta
The fiesta this year was better than I expected. There were more rides this year than last year. Although I got only one pack of tickets, I didn’t use it all and I am still left with 17 tickets. Most of the time I was walking around with my friends and just talking to people. Also most of my money was wasted on food. I did not even play any of the games. On Friday we had to go to school early because we had a choir performance and we needed to practice for it. I came to school earlier than we needed to practice. I was with some people and we were talking and just at school, but we weren’t doing anything. We had choir and we performed. After all that I finally went with my friends and walked around. The sad thing about Friday is that I didn’t stay for long. I went home.
On Saturday I went to school early again and it was fun. I learned choreography. That was a blast. Then I went to the fiesta. We had a dunk tank, which was an amazing experience. When I went it was fun because a lot of people came and threw the ball. I did fall into the water but it was fun. I went again but it was colder. After I just hung out with more people. I was supposed to go to a haunted house but I didn’t go. I met new people which was amazing. SG fiesta was a great experience this year.
